Physics Parameters

If you want an item in your LightWave scene to take part in your UP simulation, you need to give it a Body type.

Kinematic

You can control the motion of Kinematic body types using LightWave keyframes  but they do not respond to forces or collisions from the physics engine.  Particle based meshes will collide with them so they are very useful for things like ground planes or containers.

Emitter

Use Emitter types to inject streams of fluids into your simulation. Emitters can be either Z axis or Vertices and their type is set in the Squirt Gun interface. The Emitter bodies can be animated by LightWave key frames but will not respond forces and collisions and particle meshes will not collide with them.

Particle

Particle types are bodies whose volume is filled with particles. You can think of them as fluids  in the shape  of the LightWave object that it’s being applied to. Particle bodies can be melted/unmelted  by animating the Stiffness parameter.

Rigid

Not implemented yet.

Stiffness controls how strongly a Particle body holds together. Values in the range of 0 to 1.0 can be used, with 1 being completely stiff.

Stiffness can be time animated with it’s E button to produce melting effects

The Force parameter applies a global force to all particles in the simulation. The default is for the downward force of gravity but forces can be applied in any direction for special effects.

Each component of the Force vector can be time animated using it’s E button.  The Sculpt demo scene uses time animated forces.

This parameter puts a global clamp on the maximum velocity for all particles.  This can be useful for improving collision detection if your particles are moving too fast.

Max speed can be time animated using it’s E button.

Max accleration can be time animated using it’s E button.
